Southern Raised in the Fifties

As Oprah Winfrey said after Ralph was on her show, Ralph Hood is indeed a funny man. But he is so much more.
Most of all, Ralph is a storyteller.
This book consists of favorite stories from his popular and long-running weekly column in “The Brunswick News.” Ralph grew up in Brunswick, Georgia, and these stories are memories of first dates, illegal car racing, robbing a prison (that is not a typo) and getting caught stealing peanuts at the A & P. There are also stories of being “raised right,” and of forever looking at things from the viewpoint of the 1950s and the deep South. Though the stories stray to later times and faraway places, they never escape the influence of that time and place.
Everything is in here from religion to music and one voyeuristic story that even Ralph didn’t have the nerve to finish. You figure it out.
Ralph is an award-winning columnist who writes for several national publications, a member of the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame, and a Certified Speaking Professional who has entertained audiences from Hawaii to Spain and from Alaska to Puerto Rico.
